Hotels Near the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal (2026)

Last updated: October 28, 2026 · By Ronen, Stay Near The Venue

The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal sits on Pier 12 in Red Hook, a quiet waterfront corner of Brooklyn with views across the harbor to the Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan. Ships from lines such as Cunard, Princess and MSC have used it in 2026, including the Queen Mary 2. Red Hook itself has very few hotels, so most cruisers stay a short ride away in Downtown Brooklyn, Brooklyn Heights or Lower Manhattan.

This guide covers the best areas, real hotels, and how to reach the pier by ferry, bus, taxi or car, with parking prices from the official terminal page.

Where exactly is the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal?

The terminal is on Pier 12 at the Atlantic Basin in Red Hook. NYCEDC, which runs it, lists the address as 210 Clinton Wharf, Brooklyn, NY 11231. Many cruise lines and map apps use 72 Bowne Street instead, and that is where cars enter, at the corner of Bowne and Imlay Streets. Either address will get you to the same place.

New York has three cruise terminals, so double-check your ticket. Some ships sail from Manhattan or from Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, instead. Hotels in this area fill up on busy sailing days, so book early and pick a free-cancellation rate in case your plans change.

Getting there, shuttles & parking

NYC Ferry. The South Brooklyn route stops at Red Hook/Atlantic Basin, at Ferris Street and Clinton Wharf, right by the terminal. Boats also call at Wall Street/Pier 11, Atlantic Avenue/Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6 and Corlears Hook. Per the ferry’s timetable, the ride from Pier 11 to Red Hook takes about 15 minutes. A one-way ticket rose from $4.50 to $5 on October 19, 2026, per NYCEDC. Kids under 44 inches ride free.

B61 bus. There is no subway to Red Hook. The terminal page suggests taking the 2, 3, 4, 5, N or R to Borough Hall, then walking about four blocks to the B61 stop on Atlantic Avenue at Court Street. Ride to Pioneer and Van Brunt Streets, then walk about four long blocks to the pier. Another option is the F to Smith–9th Streets and then the B77. The MTA fare is $3 as of January 2026. With luggage, most travelers find a taxi easier.

Airport transfers. NYCEDC estimates taxi fares to the terminal at about $45–$60 from JFK, $28–$38 from LaGuardia and $80–$100 from Newark, before tolls and tips. These are older estimates, so expect to pay more today. Cruise Critic puts the drive at about 40 minutes from LaGuardia, 45 from Newark and 55 from JFK, with extra time at rush hour.

Parking at the terminal. Per NYCEDC’s directions page, the outdoor, secured lot charges $45 per night for cruise passengers, taxes included, with no extra charge for SUVs. You pay on arrival by cash or major credit card, and reservations aren’t required. Cars enter at Bowne and Imlay Streets. Confirm the rate before you go, as of October 2026.

Tips for cruising from Brooklyn

  • Check your terminal. New York ships also sail from Manhattan and Cape Liberty.
  • Book a car or taxi ahead on embarkation morning. Yellow cabs are harder to find in Red Hook than in Manhattan.
  • Take the ferry if you’re traveling light. It’s cheap, scenic and drops you beside the pier.
  • Allow extra time if you’re coming from JFK or Newark, especially on weekday mornings.
  • Choose a free-cancellation hotel rate in case your sailing or flight changes.
