Tips
- Do not try to park near Zilker Park. Roads close and parking is very limited.
- Lines for the shuttle and rides back are longest right after the headliner. Leaving a few minutes early or waiting it out helps.
- Hotel prices in Austin jump for both weekends. Booking early is the best way to save.
Parking, shuttles and entrances
The official ACL support page says there is no parking at Zilker Park or in the nearby neighborhoods. Paid parking is offered at the LAZ garages (Barton Oaks and 1221 MoPac) and at the Austin High School lot on West Cesar Chavez Street. For rideshare, use “Zilker Park” as your destination. Cap Metro buses serve the area, including MetroRapid Route 803, and a free festival shuttle runs from Sand Beach Park to the Barton Springs West entrance from 11:30 a.m. each day.
Walking and biking are encouraged, and the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail leads directly to the park, with bike parking on Stratford Drive, Azie Morton, Toomey Road and Sterzing Street. The three entrances are East Barton Springs, West Barton Springs and Lady Bird. The nearest airport is Austin-Bergstrom (AUS).
Choosing your hotel
Because parking at the park is so limited, pick a hotel with an easy walk, bike ride, bus or rideshare connection to Zilker rather than one that depends on driving. ACL 2026 is held over two weekends, October 2 to 4 and October 9 to 11; check the official site for future dates.
Matching an Austin neighborhood to your priorities
Austin City Limits takes place in Zilker Park, and the city around it offers several distinct places to sleep. Downtown has the largest concentration of hotels, restaurants and bars, which suits travelers who want to be in the middle of things and are comfortable with a lively street scene at night. Areas south of the river tend to feel more relaxed and can be a good choice if you want quieter evenings and a more local atmosphere. Neighborhoods east of downtown appeal to people who prefer independent restaurants and live music venues over large hotel towers.
None of these is the right answer for everyone. Decide whether you care most about being able to walk, about keeping the budget under control, or about having a calm room to return to, then choose the area that serves that priority. If you are unsure, a hotel on the downtown side of the park keeps your options open for everything else you want to do in the city.
One weekend or both: planning your stay
The festival runs over two weekends, so the first decision is which one you are attending, and whether you plan to be in town between them. Many visitors choose a single weekend and arrive the day before the gates open. Others stay for the full stretch, in which case a flexible booking and a room with a kitchenette or laundry access can be worth the extra effort.
If you attend only one weekend, compare the rates for both. Prices can differ between weekends, and one may have more availability than the other. Booking with free cancellation lets you hold a room while you decide, and gives you room to adjust if the lineup, your ticket plans or your travel dates change.
Weather, comfort and what it means for your room
Austin in the fall can still be warm, and conditions can change from one day to the next. Check the forecast shortly before you travel and pack for sun, heat and the possibility of rain. For the hotel, that means choosing a room with reliable cooling, a place to dry out clothes and shoes, and ideally a pool or quiet space for the hours between sessions at the park.
Many festival-goers underestimate how tiring several long days on their feet can be. A hotel that lets you rest, with a comfortable bed and a quiet room, adds more to the trip than a premium location you barely use. If you are sensitive to noise, ask for a room away from the street or from shared bars and rooftops.
Planning your arrival and departure
Arrival day is easier if you do not try to squeeze it between a flight and the gates. If your room is not ready, ask the hotel to hold your luggage, and use the time to eat a proper meal and get your bearings. Keep your ticket, identification and any entry information easy to reach, so you are not searching through your bag at the entrance.
On departure day, give yourself margin. Check-out time, rental car returns and airport transfers all compete with other visitors leaving at the same hour. A later flight on the Monday after the festival is more relaxing than a late-night connection on the final evening, and gives you time to eat a slow breakfast before heading home.
Questions to ask a hotel and accessibility points
Before booking, send the hotel a few specific questions. Does it have luggage storage? Is parking available, and is there a nightly charge? How does it handle noise complaints on weekend nights? Is there an elevator, and are accessible rooms available? Asking in writing helps, because you can refer back to the answer if something changes.
Travelers with mobility needs should also look at the route from the hotel to the nearest pickup and drop-off points, and check the festival’s own accessibility information before settling on a location. A room that is technically accessible but far from a convenient drop-off can still be a poor fit.
Groups, families and solo travelers
Groups benefit from agreeing the plan early: who books, how costs are shared, and what happens if someone cancels. A booking that can be canceled for free makes these conversations less stressful. Families with children should think about earlier evenings and a room with enough space to rest, and might prefer a hotel with breakfast included or a kitchen.
Solo travelers should favor well-lit, busy locations and share the plan with someone back home. Keep the hotel address and phone number saved offline, and charge your phone before heading out for the evening.
Common mistakes that cost festival visitors time and money
The most common error is choosing a room on price alone and then paying for it in rides and lost sleep. A cheap room far from where you want to be can quickly cost more than a better-placed one once transport is counted. Another is booking a non-refundable rate too early, before ticket plans are certain, or booking too late and having to accept whatever is left.
Visitors also forget to read the fine print on parking charges, extra-guest fees and check-in times. Take a few minutes to read the full price breakdown before paying, screenshot your confirmation, and save the hotel’s contact details so you can reach them if your plans change on the road.
Finally, do not over-schedule the days around the festival. Leave breathing room for meals, rest and the unexpected, and you will enjoy Austin far more than if every hour is accounted for.

How we checked this guide
The “Last updated” date at the top of this page is when we last reviewed it end to end.
- Parking rates, shuttle fees and transport times are taken from the port’s, venue’s or operator’s own published pages and from each hotel’s own website — not from aggregator sites.
- Distances and journey times are the figures the venue or transit operator publishes, not our estimates. Where we give a distance, we say what it is measured to.
- Hotel amenities (breakfast, shuttle hours, pet and parking policies) come from each hotel’s own site. These change more often than anything else here, so confirm them when you book.
- Room rates are deliberately not listed anywhere on this site. They move daily, and a price written one month is wrong the next. Our links take you to live pricing instead.
- We have not stayed at every hotel we write about. Where we contacted a property directly, the guide says so and gives the date. Where a figure comes from a third-party report rather than an official source, we say that too.
