San Juan uses more than one cruise terminal. Hotel Rumbao, across the street from the Old San Juan piers, is a walk to some ships and a ride to others. Confirm the pier on your cruise documents before you book the hotel.
Quick answer: for Piers 1 through 6, stay in Old San Juan. Hotel Rumbao says it sits directly across those piers. The same hotel says the Pan American Pier is 2.9 miles away, so an Old San Juan hotel is not a walk to that terminal.
