Hotels Near San Siro Stadium (2026): Where to Stay for AC Milan & Inter Matches and Concerts

Last updated: October 25, 2026 · By Ronen, Stay Near The Venue

San Siro, officially the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, is the shared home of AC Milan and Inter and Milan’s biggest concert venue. It sits in a residential district west of the center, so where you sleep decides how easy your night is. Some fans want to walk back after the final whistle. Others would rather stay central and ride the metro or tram out.

Quick answer: For the shortest walk, book the B&B Hotel Milano San Siro, a couple of minutes from the stadium. For more comfort and an easy ride, stay in CityLife on the M5 line or near Lotto on the M1. If you want to be in the heart of Milan, stay near the Duomo and take tram 16, which runs straight to San Siro.

San Siro in 2026: what to know

San Siro hosted the opening ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics on February 6, 2026. In November 2025, AC Milan and Inter completed the purchase of the stadium and surrounding land from the City of Milan for €197 million. The clubs plan a new 71,500-seat stadium next door, designed by Foster + Partners and MANICA, with a target opening around 2031. Both clubs will keep playing at the current San Siro until the new stadium is ready, so nothing changes for visitors in the 2026–27 season.

Big matches, derbies and summer stadium concerts fill nearby hotels fast. Book as soon as your tickets are confirmed, and pick a rate with free cancellation in case kickoff times move. Serie A often confirms exact match times only a few weeks ahead.

Walking distance to the stadium

  • B&B Hotel Milano San Siro – on Via Achille, about a two-minute walk from the stadium, with paid on-site parking. Simple, modern rooms. Best for fans who want to walk home after the match and skip the crowded metro.

Easy metro ride on the M5 or M1

  • NH Collection Milano CityLife – in CityLife near Tre Torri station on the M5, which runs straight to San Siro Stadio. Part of the hotel is a former church, and there is a seasonal rooftop pool. Good for couples and fans who want style without staying in the center.
  • Meliá Milano – on Via Masaccio, about two minutes on foot from Lotto station (M1 and M5) and under 2 km from the stadium. A large, full-service hotel with a gym. Suits groups and business travelers combining a match with work.

Best value

  • c-hotels Rubens – on Via Rubens, about a four-minute walk from Gambara station on the M1 and roughly 3 km from San Siro. A four-star hotel with a terrace, restaurant and gym, often priced below options closer to the stadium.

For families & drivers

  • Sheraton Milan San Siro – on Via Caldera in the Quarto Cagnino area, about 16 minutes on foot from San Siro Stadio station. It has a seasonal outdoor pool and a children’s pool, plus self parking (listed at €25 per day as of October 2026). Good for families making a short holiday of it.
  • Idea Hotel Milano San Siro – about 4 km from the stadium, a couple of minutes from the Settimo Milanese exit of the Tangenziale Ovest ring road. The hotel runs a free scheduled shuttle, on request, to San Siro M5 station. Best for road-trippers who want to leave the car and ride in.

Getting there, shuttles & parking

Metro M5 (lilac line): San Siro Stadio is the end of the line and the most direct stop for the stadium. The M5 also serves Garibaldi and Tre Torri (CityLife). On busy nights, some fans get off one stop early at San Siro Ippodromo and walk. Per ATM’s concert travel notices, San Siro Ippodromo and Segesta stations can close while crowds leave, and metro service is extended after major concerts.

Metro M1 (red line): From Lotto, follow the signed walking route along Viale Caprilli, or change to the M5. A free shuttle has run from Lampugnano (M1) to the stadium on big concert nights, per ATM.

Tram 16: Runs between Monte Velino and San Siro Stadio, passing Duomo and Cordusio, so it is the easiest ride from the historic center. It can be diverted on event days, so check the ATM app before you set off.

Tickets: A standard ATM ticket costs €2.20 and is valid for 90 minutes. A 24-hour ticket costs €7.60. You can also tap in with a contactless card at metro gates. Buy your return ticket before the match to skip the lines.

From the airports: The Malpensa Express takes about 37 minutes from Malpensa to Milano Cadorna and costs €15, per Trenord. At Cadorna, change to the M1 for Lotto. From Linate, the M4 runs into the city, where you can connect to other lines.

Parking: Space around the stadium is limited and traffic is heavy before and after events. For concerts, the organizers sell parking at the stadium’s own lots in advance, and the Lampugnano park-and-ride is about 2 km away on foot. Local guides advise leaving the car at a park-and-ride and taking the metro.

Tips for match & concert nights

  • Arrive early. Security checks at the gates take time, especially for derbies and stadium concerts.
  • Expect a long wait at San Siro Stadio station after the final whistle. Walking about 25 minutes to Lotto can be faster.
  • The metro normally closes around midnight. Check whether service is extended for your event, or plan on tram 16 or a taxi.
  • Bring ID. Italian football tickets are named, and stewards may check them against your passport.
  • If you stay central, a hotel near a tram 16 stop or an M5 station saves a change on the way home.

FAQ

Which metro stop is closest to San Siro?

San Siro Stadio on the M5 line is right at the stadium. Lotto on the M1 and M5 is a longer walk, and the walk back from the stadium to the Lotto area takes about 25 minutes.

Can I get to San Siro from the Duomo without changing?

Yes. Tram 16 runs from the Duomo area to San Siro Stadio. It is slower than the metro but needs no change.

Is San Siro being demolished?

Not yet. AC Milan and Inter bought the stadium in 2025 and plan to build a new one next to it, targeting about 2031. The current stadium stays in use until then and will be largely demolished afterward.

Is it better to stay near the stadium or in the center?

Stay near the stadium if you only care about the event and want to walk back. Stay in the center or CityLife if you are also sightseeing. The district around San Siro is mostly residential, with fewer restaurants open late.
