Hotels Near Copenhagen Cruise Port: Oceankaj & Langelinie (2026 Guide)

Last updated: October 25, 2026 · By Ronen, Stay Near The Venue

Finding the right hotels near Copenhagen cruise port starts with one question: which terminal is your ship using? Copenhagen has three cruise berths: Oceankaj (Ocean Quay) out in Nordhavn, and Langelinie and Nordre Toldbod closer to the old town. Each one suits a different place to stay the night before you sail.

Quick answer: If you sail from Oceankaj, stay in Nordhavn at Comwell Copenhagen Portside, which sits beside a metro station about 2.2 km from the terminals. If you sail from Langelinie or Nordre Toldbod, the waterfront Copenhagen Admiral Hotel or the apartment-style Adina Apartment Hotel Copenhagen put you within easy reach of the ship.

Copenhagen’s three cruise terminals explained

  • Oceankaj (Ocean Quay) – Oceanvej, Nordhavn. This is the main terminal for big ships and turnarounds. It has several terminal buildings along roughly 1,100 m of quay and takes up to three large ships at once. It sits about a 20-minute drive from the historic centre.
  • Langelinie – Langeliniekaj, beside the Little Mermaid and Kastellet. It is about 3 km from downtown and mostly handles mid-size and port-of-call ships.
  • Nordre Toldbod – a compact berth for small ships (up to about 200 m long) right by the royal quarter. Nyhavn is roughly 1.5 km away, a 20–25 minute walk.

Terminal assignments can change, so check your cruise documents before you book a hotel.

Closest hotels to Oceankaj (Nordhavn)

  • Comwell Copenhagen Portside – A large waterfront hotel (484 rooms) in Nordhavn, about 2.2 km from the Ocean Quay terminals, with a metro station right next door. It is the most practical base for Oceankaj sailings. A short taxi ride gets you to the ship, and the metro gets you into town the evening before.
  • Residence Inn by Marriott Copenhagen Nordhavn – Studios with fully equipped kitchens on the Nordhavn waterfront, near Nordhavn station. A good pick for families or for anyone spending a few days in the city before or after a cruise.

Best hotels for Langelinie & Nordre Toldbod

  • Adina Apartment Hotel Copenhagen – On Amerika Plads, about 850 m from the Little Mermaid and close to Langelinie. Apartments have kitchenettes or full kitchens, and there is a heated indoor pool and sauna. Great for families and longer stays.
  • Copenhagen Admiral Hotel – A converted 18th-century granary on the harbor between Nyhavn and Amalienborg Palace, with 366 rooms. It is ideal for Nordre Toldbod sailings, and Langelinie is an easy ride away. Beams, brick and harbor views make it a memorable pre-cruise night.
  • Phoenix Copenhagen – A classic hotel on Bredgade in Frederiksstaden, a short walk from Amalienborg and Nordre Toldbod. It suits travelers who want old-world style and an easy stroll to the sights.

Stay in Nyhavn for sightseeing

  • 71 Nyhavn Hotel – Set in a converted warehouse at the harbor end of the Nyhavn canal. You get the postcard Copenhagen setting, and Nordre Toldbod and Langelinie are close by. For Oceankaj, plan on a taxi or the bus-and-metro combination.

Getting there, shuttles & parking

From Copenhagen Airport: The metro (M2) and regional trains reach the city centre in about 15 minutes. You need a 3-zone ticket, which costs DKK 30 (a little cheaper in the Rejsekort app). Visit Copenhagen gives these approximate taxi fares from the airport:

  • To Oceankaj: about DKK 425 on weekdays and about DKK 520 in the evening or at weekends.
  • To Langelinie: about DKK 270 / 333.
  • To Nordre Toldbod: about DKK 232 / 286.

Public transport to each terminal works like this:

  • Oceankaj: Bus 25 (on cruise days) and the year-round bus 164 link the terminal with Orientkaj metro station on line M4. From there it is about 20 minutes to Kongens Nytorv and about 40 minutes to the airport. A 2-zone city ticket costs DKK 24. Many cruise lines also sell their own shuttle into town.
  • Langelinie: Walk about 5 minutes to the Indiakaj stop and take bus 27 to Østerport station for the metro or S-train. Bus 27 runs only during set daytime hours, so check times before you rely on it.
  • Nordre Toldbod: Walk about 14 minutes to Marmorkirken metro station.
  • Parking: Oceankaj has a pay car park with around 200 spaces. Expect roughly DKK 22–24 an hour in the daytime and a 24-hour cap of around DKK 150–170 (check current rates). Langelinie and Nordre Toldbod have no long-term cruise parking.

Tips for your Copenhagen cruise stay

  • Confirm your terminal first. A Nyhavn hotel is perfect for Nordre Toldbod but less convenient for Oceankaj.
  • Fly in at least a day early. Summer is peak cruise season in Copenhagen, so book a free-cancellation rate early.
  • Buy tickets in an app (DOT/Rejsekort) before you board. Riding without a valid ticket can get you fined.
  • With heavy luggage, a taxi from a Nordhavn or Østerbro hotel to Oceankaj is short and usually the easiest option.

Getting from the Copenhagen Cruise Terminals to the City

Copenhagen receives cruise ships at three separate terminals, and the best route into the city depends on which one your ship uses. According to Copenhagen Malmo Port, Oceankaj in outer Nordhavn works together with Nordre Toldbod and Langelinie so that the city can welcome cruise ships of all sizes and types. Check your cruise documents for the berth before planning the day.

Copenhagen Malmo Port states that the three terminal buildings at Oceankaj each cover 3,300 square metres, and that the quay is 1,100 metres long. The terminals were officially opened on 2 May 2014 by Queen Margrethe II, with Legend of the Seas as the first vessel. The port also reports a 12 metre observation tower with public access. Wonderful Copenhagen, the official visitor organisation, gives the addresses: Oceankaj is at Oceanvej 13, 2150 Nordhavn, Langelinie is at Langeliniekaj 16, 2100 Copenhagen, and Nordre Toldbod is at Nordre Toldbod 18-24, 1259 Copenhagen. For Oceankaj, it says the route to the centre is by bus 25 or 164 to Orientkaj metro station, then metro line M4. It gives about 20 minutes to Kongens Nytorv and about 30 minutes to Central Station, with a 2-zone ticket costing 24 DKK. Its taxi estimates from Oceankaj are about 175 DKK to the city centre and about 212 DKK to Central Station on weekday daytime, rising to about 215 DKK and 262 DKK in the evenings and at weekends.

For Langelinie, Wonderful Copenhagen says to take bus 27, with a 5 minute walk to the Indiakaj stop, to Osterport, then an S-train to Central Station, about 20 minutes for 24 DKK. It also gives a 15 minute walk to Osterport station, where metro lines M3 and M4 and S-trains are available, and notes the terminal is close to the Little Mermaid. Its taxi estimate to Central Station is about 135 DKK on weekdays and about 167 DKK in the evenings and at weekends.

For Nordre Toldbod, Wonderful Copenhagen describes it as the terminal closest to the city centre. It says to walk 14 minutes to Marmorkirken metro station and take M3 or M4, which reaches Central Station in about 25 minutes for a 24 DKK ticket. Its taxi estimate to Central Station is about 116 DKK on weekdays and about 143 DKK in the evenings and at weekends.

For the airport, Wonderful Copenhagen gives about 40 minutes from Oceankaj and about 35 minutes from Langelinie and Nordre Toldbod, on a 3-zone ticket costing 30 DKK. It says metros run 24 hours a day, children under 12 travel free, and tickets can be bought at station machines or with the DOT Tickets and rejs apps. On parking, it says a public lot is 50 to 100 metres from Oceankaj, at 22 DKK per hour from 7am to 5pm and 12 DKK per hour overnight, with a maximum of 150 DKK per day, while Langelinie and Nordre Toldbod have no long-term parking.

Prices and routes are estimates that can change. Please confirm the current information on the official Copenhagen Malmo Port and Wonderful Copenhagen websites before you travel.

How we checked this guide

The “Last updated” date at the top of this page is when we last reviewed it end to end.

  • Parking rates, shuttle fees and transport times are taken from the port’s, venue’s or operator’s own published pages and from each hotel’s own website — not from aggregator sites.
  • Distances and journey times are the figures the venue or transit operator publishes, not our estimates. Where we give a distance, we say what it is measured to.
  • Hotel amenities (breakfast, shuttle hours, pet and parking policies) come from each hotel’s own site. These change more often than anything else here, so confirm them when you book.
  • Room rates are deliberately not listed anywhere on this site. They move daily, and a price written one month is wrong the next. Our links take you to live pricing instead.
  • We have not stayed at every hotel we write about. Where we contacted a property directly, the guide says so and gives the date. Where a figure comes from a third-party report rather than an official source, we say that too.

FAQ

Which Copenhagen cruise terminal will my ship use?

Most large ships and turnaround sailings use Oceankaj in Nordhavn. Langelinie takes many mid-size ships, and Nordre Toldbod handles small expedition and luxury ships. Your cruise documents will name the berth.

Can I walk from my hotel to Oceankaj?

Not realistically with luggage. Even Nordhavn hotels such as Comwell Copenhagen Portside are about 2 km away. Take a short taxi ride, or bus 25/164 from Orientkaj station.

How do I get from Copenhagen Airport to the cruise port?

A taxi to Oceankaj costs roughly DKK 425 on weekday daytimes. By public transport, take the metro towards the city, change to line M4 for Orientkaj, then take bus 25 or 164. That takes about 40 minutes on a 3-zone DKK 30 ticket.

Is Nyhavn a good place to stay before a cruise?

Yes, especially for Langelinie or Nordre Toldbod sailings. You can sightsee the evening before and reach the ship quickly. For Oceankaj, allow extra time for the transfer.

Is there parking at the Copenhagen cruise port?

Only at Oceankaj, which has a pay car park with a daily cap. Langelinie and Nordre Toldbod have no long-term cruise parking, and nearby garages can cost around DKK 500 a day.
