Last updated: October 11, 2026 · By Ronen, Stay Near The Venue

Getting from Fort Lauderdale airport to Port Everglades is one of the easiest airport-to-ship transfers in cruising: the port says FLL sits just 1.8 miles away, and a taxi averages $18-$21. Port Everglades lists Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) as 1.8 miles from the port, and Holland America describes the drive as about 3 miles and roughly 10 minutes depending on traffic and which terminal you sail from. Taxi from Fort Lauderdale airport

There is no published flat fare from FLL to the cruise port; taxis run on the Broward County meter. Since December 12, 2023 the county rate has been $3.50 for the first 1/6 mile and $0.48 for each additional 1/6 mile, which is how the port arrives at its $18-$21 average. Taxis wait at the official taxi stands outside baggage claim. If you are switching ships, the port notes that taxi transfers between cruise terminals inside Port Everglades are a flat $8.

Uber and Lyft pickup at FLL

Rideshare pickups are in designated zones, not at the main curb. Uber’s airport guide points Terminal 2 riders to Zone H, Terminal 3 riders across the street into the Palm Garage, and Terminal 4 riders out of baggage claim and left to Zone F. Zones can move during construction, so follow the in-app directions and the airport’s ride app signs. Request the car only once you have your bags.

Cruise line transfers

Most major lines sailing from Port Everglades sell airport transfers, and some cruise packages include them. Holland America, for example, lets guests add them under “Manage My Cruise.” Transfers cost more than a taxi for one or two people, but reps meet you at the airport and handle luggage, and you are covered if your flight runs late on embarkation day.

Airport hotels with free FLL shuttle

Hotels near FLL that offer a completely free cruise port shuttle are rare. The common setup is a free airport shuttle plus a paid port transfer the next morning. These Dania Beach properties are a few minutes south of the airport:

Closest to the port

  • Crowne Plaza Fort Lauderdale Airport/Cruiseport – on State Road 84 between the airport and the port, with a free airport shuttle from 5 AM to 11 PM and a cruise terminal shuttle for a surcharge. Self-parking is $20 per day if you drive in.

Getting there, shuttles & parking

  • Driving: the port is minutes from FLL; the port lists 1850 Eller Drive as its address and you pay for parking on site with cash, credit or debit.
  • Rental cars: rental companies at FLL run shuttles from the cruise terminals to their nearby locations, which helps if you drop a car before sailing.
  • After your cruise: taxis, rideshare, coaches and hotel vehicles wait in marked areas outside each terminal.
  • Flying into Miami instead? The port says MIA is 30-45 minutes south via I-95. Sailing from Miami? See our guide to hotels near PortMiami.

Tips for the FLL to Port Everglades transfer

  • Fly in the day before if you can; a missed ship costs far more than a hotel night.
  • Have your terminal number ready – drivers need it, not just “the cruise port.”
  • Confirm hotel port shuttle times and fees when booking, as schedules change.
  • Book pre-cruise rooms with free cancellation in case flights shift.
  • Rideshare prices can surge on busy sailing mornings, so compare with the taxi line before you book.

Getting from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport to Port Everglades

Port Everglades and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) are close neighbours. According to the Port Everglades cruise FAQ, the airport is 1.8 miles from the port, and the port’s transportation page describes FLL as just minutes away on U.S. 1. The port advises allowing at least 45 minutes between your flight arrival and cruise check-in, and the FAQ suggests allowing 45 minutes to 1 hour from FLL to the terminal. For comparison, the port lists Miami International Airport as 27 miles away, with 2 to 3 hours recommended, and Palm Beach as 50 miles away, with 3 to 4 hours recommended.

The simplest option is a taxi. According to the airport’s ground transportation page on broward.org, regulated taxi fares are available at all four terminals on the lower level (Arrivals), and the sample fare listed to Port Everglades is $18 to $21. The Port Everglades transportation page quotes the same average fare range of $18 to $21. Luxury sedan service is also offered at higher rates. Fares are regulated, so you do not need to negotiate a price at the curb.

Ride-share pickups are also supported. The Broward County Aviation Department states that app-based pickup happens on the lower level (Arrivals) at designated zones. For Terminals 1 and 2 the pickup area is near the taxi podium and GTA-2, while for Terminals 3 and 4 it is on the first floor of the Palm Garage, in the southern portion. Ride-share drop-off is on the upper level (Departures). The Port Everglades FAQ adds that taxis and ride-sharing are available outside the terminals when you return from your cruise.

Shuttles are another route. The airport says many area hotels offer free shuttle service, with pickup at the Ground Transportation Areas (GTA-1, GTA-2 and GTA-3) on the lower level. Port Everglades likewise notes that many area hotels provide transportation between the hotel and the port, and that transfers between the port and the airport or a hotel are often included in cruise packages, so check with your cruise line before booking a separate ride.

For rail, the airport states that Tri-Rail runs a free shuttle from all terminals to the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport Station, and that Tri-Rail serves Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Brightline operates an airport connector shuttle seven days a week from 7 AM to 8 PM, with one-way rides available at a flat rate per person. The airport also lists Broward County Transit Route 1 at the Rental Car Center (Zone G), and the port says BCT bus service stops at the Northport section on SE 17th Street.

On arrival, Port Everglades lists its main address as 1850 Eller Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. The port has three entrances: SE 17th Street at Eisenhower Boulevard, State Road 84 at Spangler Boulevard, and I-595 East at Eller Drive. Its cruise terminals are Terminals 2, 4, 18, 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29. Passengers aged 18 and over need a government-issued photo ID plus cruise documents, and vehicles are subject to search. Always confirm current details on the official Port Everglades and Broward County Aviation Department websites before you travel.

How we checked this guide

The “Last updated” date at the top of this page is when we last reviewed it end to end.

  • Parking rates, shuttle fees and transport times are taken from the port’s, venue’s or operator’s own published pages and from each hotel’s own website — not from aggregator sites.
  • Distances and journey times are the figures the venue or transit operator publishes, not our estimates. Where we give a distance, we say what it is measured to.
  • Hotel amenities (breakfast, shuttle hours, pet and parking policies) come from each hotel’s own site. These change more often than anything else here, so confirm them when you book.
  • Room rates are deliberately not listed anywhere on this site. They move daily, and a price written one month is wrong the next. Our links take you to live pricing instead.
  • We have not stayed at every hotel we write about. Where we contacted a property directly, the guide says so and gives the date. Where a figure comes from a third-party report rather than an official source, we say that too.
