If you are sailing from Port Canaveral, staying nearby the night before is the easiest way to avoid a stressful morning. Flights get delayed, I-4 traffic out of Orlando is unpredictable, and the ship will not wait for you. This guide covers the best places to stay before your cruise, from hotels within walking distance of the terminals to beachfront options in Cocoa Beach with cruise shuttles.
Quick answer: stay in Cape Canaveral if you want the shortest ride to the terminal, or in Cocoa Beach if you want a beach evening before you sail. Many hotels in both areas offer “park, stay and cruise” packages that include parking for the length of your cruise and a shuttle to the port.

Where to stay near Port Canaveral: the three main areas

Park, stay and cruise packages: are they worth it?
Since October 1, 2025, parking at Port Canaveral costs $20 per day plus tax, and you pay for both your arrival and departure days. On a 7-night cruise that adds up to around $160 before tax. Many hotels nearby offer packages that combine one night in the hotel, parking for the length of your cruise and a shuttle to the terminal.
- Worth it when: you are driving, your cruise is 5 nights or longer, and the package price is close to the hotel rate plus port parking.
- Skip it when: you are flying in and do not have a car, or the hotel shuttle times do not match your boarding window.
- Always check: shuttle times, whether the shuttle runs to your specific terminal, and if there is a per-person fee.
Getting from Orlando airport to Port Canaveral
Orlando International Airport (MCO) is about 45 miles from Port Canaveral, roughly an hour by car without traffic. Your main options are a rental car, a rideshare, a private transfer, or the cruise line’s own bus transfer. If your flight lands in the afternoon or evening, it is usually smarter to spend the night near the port than to rush to the terminal the next morning.
Before you sail: three things worth booking ahead
Airport to hotel. If you land at Orlando International and would rather skip the taxi line, a pre-booked private transfer (Welcome Pickups or Kiwitaxi) gives you a fixed price and a driver waiting at arrivals.
Bags between checkout and boarding. Hotel checkout and boarding time rarely match. Radical Storage lets you leave your luggage for a few hours so you can enjoy the day hands-free before heading to Port Canaveral.
If you arrive a day early. A simple plan is a half-day around Cocoa Beach or the Kennedy Space Center area; you can browse tours and tickets on Klook before you go.

Tips for the night before your cruise
- Book a hotel that is refundable in case your flight changes.
- Pack a small carry-on with medications, documents and swimwear. Checked luggage can take hours to reach your cabin.
- Check your boarding time on the cruise line app and plan to arrive at the terminal at your assigned time, not earlier.
- If you have time, watch a ship sail out from Jetty Park in the late afternoon.
- Space fans can visit Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, about 20 minutes from the port.
Port Canaveral terminals, parking and drive times
Port Canaveral runs seven cruise terminals split into two groups, according to the port’s directions and parking page. The A terminals are on the north side (Exit 54A): Terminal 5 at 9245 Charles Rowland Dr., Terminal 6 at 9241, Terminal 8 at 9155 and Terminal 10 at 9005. The B terminals are on the south side (Exit 54B): Terminal 1 at 9500 Discovery Rd., Terminal 2 at 180 Christopher Columbus Dr. and Terminal 3 at 220 Christopher Columbus Dr. Check your boarding documents for the exact terminal, because it decides which exit you take.
Parking is listed at $20.00 per day plus tax, including the arrival and departure days, and you pay by major credit card at the entrance because cash is not accepted. You park and walk to the terminal, so no parking shuttle is needed, and parking opens at 10 AM on embarkation day. Rates and rules can change, so confirm on the port’s official site before you go.
Drive times quoted by the port: about 45 minutes from Orlando International (MCO) via S.R. 528 East, about 40 minutes from Melbourne International (MLB) via NASA Boulevard and U.S. Highway 1, and about one hour from Orlando Sanford International (SFB) via the Central Florida Greenway and S.R. 417. If you fly in the same morning, allow for baggage claim and traffic on top of these times, or stay the night before near the port to avoid the risk.
How we checked this guide
The “Last updated” date at the top of this page is when we last reviewed it end to end.
- Parking rates, shuttle fees and transport times are taken from the port’s, venue’s or operator’s own published pages and from each hotel’s own website — not from aggregator sites.
- Distances and journey times are the figures the venue or transit operator publishes, not our estimates. Where we give a distance, we say what it is measured to.
- Hotel amenities (breakfast, shuttle hours, pet and parking policies) come from each hotel’s own site. These change more often than anything else here, so confirm them when you book.
- Room rates are deliberately not listed anywhere on this site. They move daily, and a price written one month is wrong the next. Our links take you to live pricing instead.
- We have not stayed at every hotel we write about. Where we contacted a property directly, the guide says so and gives the date. Where a figure comes from a third-party report rather than an official source, we say that too.

Most Cocoa Beach hotels are about 3 to 7 miles from the cruise terminals, which is usually a 10 to 15 minute drive.
Can I walk to the cruise terminal from a hotel?
A few hotels in Cape Canaveral are very close to the port, but walking with luggage along port roads is not practical. Plan on a short shuttle, taxi or rideshare.
How much does cruise parking cost at Port Canaveral?
Port parking costs $20 per day plus tax (since October 2025), charged for both your embarkation and debarkation days. Hotel park-and-cruise packages can be cheaper on longer cruises. See our Port Canaveral cruise parking guide for terminals and payment rules.

Which Port Canaveral hotels have a cruise shuttle?
Several hotels in the comparison table above offer a shuttle to the cruise terminals, but the details differ: some charge a per-person fee, some need a reservation, and some run only on embarkation or disembarkation mornings.
