Where to Stay Near Port Everglades: Best Fort Lauderdale Cruise Hotels (2026 Guide)

Last updated: October 20, 2026 · By Ronen, Stay Near The Venue

Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world, and one of the easiest to reach. It is only about 2 miles from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), so you can fly in the day before, spend the night nearby and be at the terminal in minutes the next morning.

Quick answer: stay on 17th Street next to the port for the shortest transfer, or near the airport for the best mix of price and convenience. Many hotels in both areas run shuttles to the cruise terminals.

Port Everglades cruise parking

Port Everglades runs its own parking garages next to the terminals, including the Heron garage (northern terminals) and the Palm garage (southern terminals). Parking is charged at a daily maximum rate per vehicle. Check the Port Everglades website for the current rate before you travel, and compare it with hotel park-and-cruise packages, which can be cheaper on longer cruises.

Port Everglades lists a maximum of $25 per day for standard vehicles in its garages and lots, so a 7-day cruise parked at the maximum rate costs about $175 before any extras. The port does not take reservations or prepayment; you pay at the exit machines.

Getting from FLL airport to Port Everglades

The airport is only about 2 miles from the port, around a 10-minute drive without traffic. A taxi or rideshare is quick and usually inexpensive, and many airport hotels offer free airport shuttles plus paid cruise shuttles. If you are flying into Miami instead, see our guide to hotels near PortMiami.

Before you sail: three things worth booking ahead

Airport to hotel. If you land at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International and would rather skip the taxi line, a pre-booked private transfer (Welcome Pickups or Kiwitaxi) gives you a fixed price and a driver waiting at arrivals.

Bags between checkout and boarding. Hotel checkout and boarding time rarely match. Radical Storage lets you leave your luggage for a few hours so you can enjoy the day hands-free before heading to Port Everglades.

If you arrive a day early. A simple plan is a morning on Las Olas or an Everglades outing; you can browse tours and tickets on Klook before you go.

Tips for the night before your cruise

  • Choose a refundable rate in case your flight changes.
  • Reserve your hotel shuttle at check-in, as seats are limited.
  • Keep documents, medications and a change of clothes in your carry-on.
  • Las Olas Boulevard and Fort Lauderdale Beach are both a short ride away for dinner.
  • Arrive at the terminal at your assigned time to avoid long lines.

Which area suits your trip: beach, airport or port edge

Port Everglades sits close to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, reported at about three miles, so the simplest plan is a hotel in the airport and port corridor. That works well for early flights and late arrivals. The trade-off is that you are staying in a practical, business-style area instead of somewhere with an evening atmosphere.

If you have an evening to spare, the beach side of Fort Lauderdale, reported at roughly two and a half miles from the port, gives you sand, a walk and a relaxed dinner, and Las Olas Boulevard offers a lively strip of restaurants and shops. Match the area to your priorities. Families with small children often value a pool and a short drive. Couples may prefer a walkable dining street. Solo travelers may value a well-lit, busy area and a simple ride back.

Booking strategy and cancellation flexibility

Because sailing dates are fixed, book your hotel as soon as your flights are settled and choose a refundable rate where possible. A free-cancellation booking lets you lock in a place and then react if your cruise line moves departure times, your flight is rerouted or a better rate appears.

Winter is the busiest cruise season in South Florida, so rooms close to the port can go early for popular weeks. Compare total cost, not just the nightly rate: parking, resort fees and a taxi or rideshare each way can change which option is genuinely cheaper. Ask the hotel what is included in writing, and keep the answer in your confirmation email.

Arrival day and luggage logistics

Many travelers arrive from an early flight long before standard check-in time. Ask the hotel in advance whether they can store luggage, and whether an early room is possible, instead of discovering the answer at the front desk with a heavy suitcase. If your ship departs in the afternoon, a late-morning checkout followed by a direct ride to the terminal is usually less stressful than trying to squeeze in sightseeing.

Pack a day bag with your documents, medication, a change of clothes and chargers, because the suitcases you give to porters may not reach your cabin until later in the afternoon. Check the terminal assigned to your ship before you travel, since Port Everglades has several terminals and a driver needs the right one.

Accessibility and comfort questions to ask a hotel

If anyone in your group has limited mobility, ask whether the hotel has step-free access, accessible rooms with roll-in or standard showers, and an elevator that is reliably in service. Ask if the airport or port shuttle, where one exists, can take a wheelchair or mobility scooter, and whether the pickup schedule suits your sailing time.

A short email before you travel often gets a clearer answer than a call on the day. Ask about quiet rooms away from the lift or road, early breakfast options, and whether they provide a fridge for medication.

Port Everglades parking: garages, lots and rates

Port Everglades, at 1850 Eller Drive, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316, lists two parking garages and four surface lots. The Heron Garage has 1,818 spaces and serves Terminals 2 and 4, and the Palm Garage has 1,966 spaces and serves Terminals 19, 21, 25, 26 and 29; both have a 7-foot clearance. Lot A has 770 spaces near Terminals 19 and 26, Lot B has 404 spaces between Terminals 18 and 19, Lot C has 600 spaces west of Terminal 18 and Lot D has 850 spaces north of Terminal 18.

The port lists a daily maximum of $25, with hourly rates from $5 for up to one hour. It does not take reservations or prepayment, and charges start when you pull the ticket from the machine. Parking management can be reached at 954-468-3680. Confirm current rates on the port’s official page. For rates by hour, terminals and lots, see our Port Everglades cruise parking guide.

How we checked this guide

The “Last updated” date at the top of this page is when we last reviewed it end to end.

  • Parking rates, shuttle fees and transport times are taken from the port’s, venue’s or operator’s own published pages and from each hotel’s own website — not from aggregator sites.
  • Distances and journey times are the figures the venue or transit operator publishes, not our estimates. Where we give a distance, we say what it is measured to.
  • Hotel amenities (breakfast, shuttle hours, pet and parking policies) come from each hotel’s own site. These change more often than anything else here, so confirm them when you book.
  • Room rates are deliberately not listed anywhere on this site. They move daily, and a price written one month is wrong the next. Our links take you to live pricing instead.
  • We have not stayed at every hotel we write about. Where we contacted a property directly, the guide says so and gives the date. Where a figure comes from a third-party report rather than an official source, we say that too.
